Rose of Sharon (MuGungHwa)

Dae Jin is currently on a performance schedule with his new composition, Rose of Sharon (MuGungHwa), adapted from a traditional song theme by Ham Yi Young. This work was composed to commemorate the 6.25 Korean War veterans, in hopes of bringing peace and unity to the divided nation.

For this reason, he is an activist standing for peace, human rights, and the preservation of artistic and cultural heritage. He uses his music to communicate the essence of love and struggle that comes with human relationships—reflecting on the triumph and reunion of love. His work is meant to encourage those who have lost loved ones through death, war, poverty, separation, or sickness.

Musical Style

Dae Jin’s performances and compositions draw from a wide range of styles, including pop, rock, jazz, musical theatre, praise music, and impressionistic elements. He seeks to blend these influences into a unique musical language that remains accessible, expressive, and deeply personal.

His new songs—including “Reminiscence”, “Reunion”, “To You” and others—continue this journey, inviting listeners into stories of memory, hope, and restoration.

Current Projects

Mr. Kim is currently working on a film score project for “King David” and has recently completed a collection of solo piano pieces: “Dream”, “Destination”, “First Love”, “Personal Jesus”, “Reminiscence”, and “City Light”.

His most recent composition is a piano quintet titled “Spring”, continuing his exploration of lyrical, cinematic, and emotionally resonant soundscapes.
